Holi is an International festival. There are no barriers to celebrate holi festival. Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jain’s and everyone celebrates. From 3 to 16 days holi festival can celebrate.
History of the Holi:
According to the ancient history Hirayanakasyap who was deeply devoted to Brahma will get lots of powers and finally he will be against the Gods as well as Earth. He asks everyone to pray him and not Gods. Then his son was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu. He couldn’t stops him.. Even-though he made him suffering he can survive well. Then one day he asked him to sit on the fire which will be placed in Holika’s lap. Holika is covered with the shawl which cannot caught fire. Then his son prahaladha prays vishnu and he saves him and Holika dies. By this people started celebrating Holy festival.
Holy celebrations in Andhra pradesh:
In Andhra pradesh people celebrate it for one day. Where as place like Mathura they celebrate for 16 days also. Holi in South India is not as grand than North India. Where as in North they celebrates with elated joy. In Andhra youngsters play with colours and make fun. Also seeks elder’s blessings and by putting gulal and abeer on the feet of elders.
Banjara people celebrate Holi in their own tradition and make fun and celebrate by performing dances and performed by colourful banjara gypsies.
